The Lady Dawgs traveled to Russell County to play in a shootout hosted by the Lady Lakers last weekend.

Clinton County’s game was against Perry County Central and with limited play from leading scorer Ansley Stalcup, the team needed another player to step up and fill her shoes in order to grab the win.

The Lady Dawgs started out pretty good against the Lady Commodores. Clinton County opened up with a 5-2 lead before Perry County took the lead 7-5 midway through the first quarter.

Clinton County’s Kayla Dicken scored nine of the first 10 points for the Lady Dawgs for a 10-7 lead.

The Lady Dawgs put together a 12-0 run in the first quarter to move ahead 17-7 with less than a minute remaining in the period.

Perry County added two free throws to the scoreboard by the end of the quarter to cut the Lady Dawgs lead to eight after the first eight minutes of play, 17-9.

The second quarter saw Clinton County continuing to dominate, holding Perry County to only 12 second quarter points, while putting up 17 for a 34-20 halftime lead.

During the first quarter, Clinton County scored the first four points of the game, 4-0, but Metcalfe County came back and scored six straight points to take a two point lead, 6-4.

By the end of the second quarter, both teams had put seven points on the board to send Clinton County into the locker room at the half with a three point lead, 16-13.
