The Clinton County Lady Bulldogs are headed back to the Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic this week after battling through the brackets in the 4th Region All “A” Tournament.

The Lady Dawgs defeated Todd County Central in the opening round, 71-50, Cumberland County in the semi-finals, 58-40, and Glasgow in the final, 54-43.

It’s been 10 years since Clinton County has won an All “A” Classic 4th Region Title and despite the 10 year absence from the state tournament, Clinton County fans and the coaching staff are no strangers to the tournament.

In 2005, the Lady Dawgs, coached by Ronnie Guffey, went to the finals, but lost to Louisville Christian Academy, 34-32.

In the previous two years, 2003 and 2004, Clinton County won the All “A” Classic in both years. Assistant Coach Jessica (Cummings) Conner was a member of the teams that won and were runners-up in the All “A” Classic State Tournament.

The Lady Dawgs travel to Frankfort this week to add to the tradition of playing in the All “A” Classic. Clinton County heads into the tournament with a 20-3 record, one of the best in the tournament.

The state bracket path . . .

Although the Lady Dawgs’ game will be too late for press deadline this week. There will be game photos and summaries in next week’s edition.

Clinton County faced Lexington Sayre in the first round of action Wednesday at noon and the Lady Bulldogs are set in the top set of tournament brackets, meaning that additional tournament wins would put the Lady Dawgs back in action on Friday at 9:00 a.m., Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and hopefully in the championship matchup on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

The All “A” Classic games are being played in the Frankfort Convention Center in downtown, Frankfort.
