The Heart of Lake Cumberland 5th annual SpringFest 2011 is set for May 13 and 14 at Memorial Park in Monticello.
This year’s event will feature arts and crafts, food, KidZone with free inflatables, a 5K run/1-mile fun run, car show, live entertainment, a St. Jude Children’s benefit motorcycle ride and so much more.
SpringFest will begin Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday’s festivities will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 10 p.m.
A couple of new events have been added to the weekend, as Saturday morning will feature a variety of events for everyone in the family.
“We have really added to our event, especially on Saturday morning. We have a SpringFest 5K run/walk, a Classic Car Show, plus have teamed with the Jeremy Hicks Motorcycle Ride for St. Jude Children’s research, to make our event even bigger and better. We have also teamed with Crossroads to have a second stage area as well, so we’ll have live entertainment most of the day. I really think top to bottom this is by far our best lineup ever,” said Chamber president Shannon Hutchinson.
The music lineup, which is headlined by Molly Hatchet on Saturday night, also includes Nashville recording artist Kris Bell, Stumpwater, Big T and the Twisters, Reverend John, Faubush Hill, plus both the Monticello Jazz Band and the Bell Tones on Saturday.
Friday night features a couple of regional favorites in Rapid Transit and Klassyc Tymes, plus a new face to the main state in Envy. All bands and times are subject to change.
“The Event Committee has worked extremely hard on being able to secure Molly Hatchet and add several new events, plus expand KidZone, while keeping the event free to the public. We also have some excellent local and regional talent, so hopefully we have a group for everyone in the family. Music is just one part of the weekend; we also have great vendor food booths, arts and crafts, plus all kinds of fun games. All of this happens because we have such great partners that continue to support SpringFest. Money is tight and budgets are smaller across the nation, but we feel so fortunate to have the number of sponsors we do and this event could not happen without their support,” said Chamber SpringFest Chair Vicki Davis.
Vendors are encouraged to reserve their space early, as spots are limited. For more information and/or to reserve your spot as a vendor go to SpringFest 2011’s website at www.heartoflakecumberlandspringfest.com. You may also call the Monticello-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce office at (606) 348-3064 or stop by their office at 120 South Main Street located at City Hall.
“We want and ask any local group that plans on setting up for the weekend to make sure they do that early, so we can accommodate as many as possible. Hopefully everyone that can will make SpringFest a part of their weekend schedule,” said Hutchinson.
