Tony Gumm, 64, County House Rd., Tompkinsville, pled guilty two weeks ago in United States District Court to three counts of voter fraud.

Gumm, in his plea, admitted to conspiring with Martha Hughes, Corey Page, Michael Page, Billy Proffitt and Todd Newport, to pay or offer to pay voters in the November 2006 Monroe County general election.

In the indictment against Gumm, he was accused of paying a voter on Oct. 28, 2006, and working with Michael Page to aid and abet one another by paying and offering to pay another voter for voting in the election.

In the 2006 election, Gumm was a write-in magistrate candidate after losing in the May primary. Gumm, the Pages, Hughes and Proffitt were all indicted by a Federal Grand Jury with the sealed indictments being released in June 2010.

Appearing before Judge Robert Goebel, who was filling in for U.S. District Court Judge Joseph H. McKinley, Gumm pled guilty. He could receive a sentence of up to 15 years in federal prison, pay a combined fine of up to $750,000 and serve up to three years of supervised release, said Thomas Dyke, U.S. Attorney.

Dyke added that with Gumm’s plea agreement, a lesser sentence and fine will be recommended.

Final sentencing is set for July 21.
