Snow Day photo contest winners
Since Mother Nature forced many of us to change our daily routines last week, the Extension Office encouraged youth and adults to participate in an online Snow Day Photo Contest.
There was an overwhelming response to the contest. Participants could enter a photo in each of the five categories listed below and post them to the Clinton County Cooperative Extension Office Facebook Page.
The number of likes/votes by February 20th determined category winners.
Overall, we had 82 youth and adult entries in the Snow Day Photo Contest. The number of “likes” to our Facebook page and the reach of the contest has been amazing. Participants highlighted great photography skills, but encouraging people to stop and think about what’s special to them about their family time and the beauty of their surroundings in our community has been the greatest impact.
The winner only is announced in each category except for our two most “popular” categories, the Adult Snow on the Farm and Adult Snow Scene categories. A few categories did not have entries in some age divisions.
We also wanted to connect the contest to the Clinton County Fair. Participants will receive a prize package from the Extension Office this week. However, an additional prize will be awarded to the winners if the photos are entered in the Clinton County Fair Exhibit Hall this summer. We want to see all the photos entered in the Fair Exhibit Hall. A Snow Day Photo display will allow us all reflect upon this winter experience as we adjust to summer’s much warmer temperatures during Clinton County Fair week.
Thanks so much for all the interest and participation! Additional contests are being planned for the near future. More information will be shared at a later date.
