SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery, for those people suffering with depression, addictions to drug or alcohol use, etc., will meet on Tuesdays at

VA Officer available

Gary Jones, Veterans Benefit Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 216 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Thursday and third Monday each month. This will allow Jones to help veterans and their families more effectively from this central location. Veterans can schedule an appointment by call 270-651-9578 or toll free, 1-800-850-1392.

SSA Office no longer

visiting Clinton County

The Social Security Administration will no longer be visiting the Clinton County Senior Citizens’s Building on the first and third Tuesday of each month. However, the local office will be able to better serve you. The office is located at 3975 S Highway 27, Somerset, Kentucky. We are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. You may also call the local office toll free 1-877-714-0375 or 1-800-772-1213. Much of your Social Security business can also be conducted online. Visit us anytime at www.socialsecurity.gov.

VFW #1096 Bicycle Derby

Albany VFW Post #1096 will hold its annual bicycle derby for ages 2-13 on Saturday, May 14 at the VFW Post ball field on Hopkins Street. Bike safety inspections will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the races starting at 1 p.m. Entry forms will be handed out during inspections. Donations of $25 for a trophy is being sought from area businesses. Make check payable to VFW Post #1096. For more information, contact Ron Myers at 387-7916. 28-3

Diabetes classes offered

Living Well with Diabetes classes will be offered the following Wednesdays at the Clinton County Health Department: May 11, May 18 and May 25 from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. There will also be a Nutrition Basics night class on June 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. Preregistration is required by calling 1-800-928-4416, ext. 1166. 29-2

Relay for Life May 14

The Clinton County Relay For Life event will be held Saturday, May 14 starting at 7 p.m. at Mountain View Park. In case of inclement weather, it will take place at Clinton County High School. Everyone is invited out any time during the night to help support the American Cancer Society and its fight against cancer. 29-2

Clinton County Fiscal Court will meet in regular session Thursday, May 19 at 5 p.m. at the judge/executive’s office conference room. The meeting is open to the public. 30-2

CCHS nominations
for SBDMC

Clinton County High School will be taking nominations for parent members of the school based decision making committee until Wednesday, May 11. The election for parent members will be on Thursday, May 12 from 3-6 p.m. Nomination forms are available from Ina Mercer in the school office or contacting Martina Brown at the high school.

ECC Site-Based nominations

Clinton County Early Childhood Center is accepting nominations through Thursday, May 12 for parent member to the Site Based Council. Parents will need to contact Tuesday Davis at 606-688-1924 to give their nomination. Parent Site Based voting will be Friday, May 13 at ECC from 3-5 p.m.

Twin Lakes Beekeepers

The Twin Lakes Beekeepers Association will meet Thursday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at the Extension Office. Those interested are welcome. Phil Craft, State Bee Inspector, will be the guest speaker.

Williams, Farmer Bus Tour

The Williams-Farmer 2011 Lead, or Get Out of the Way Bus Tour will be at the Clinton County Courthouse on Thursday, May 12 at 1:15 p.m. David Williams and Richie Farmer, the GOP team for Governor and Lt. Governor, will be on hand.

Family Literacy
Family Night

Clinton County Family Literacy will be having Family Night Thursday, May 12 at 5 p.m. at the park with a guest speaker from the Clinton County Public Library. There will be food, a bundle opening and literacy activities. For questions call Amy Garner or Eddie Tallent at 387-6648.

Nominations for CCMS SBMC

Nominations for Clinton County Middle School Site Based Council parent members can be made in the office of the middle school from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Monday, May 16. Extended time will be given on Thursday, May 12 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. All nominations must be made in person.

Early Head Start parent and staff meeting

Early Head Start parents and staff will meet at the Early Head Start Parent Center, Wednesday, May 18 at 12 noon. The topic is Volunteer Awareness. Rhonda Conner, CPC/Taylor and Green County, Lake Cumberland Head Start/Early Head Start Parent Involvement Specialist will be the guest speaker. Lunch will be served and door prizes given. All Early Head Start parents are urged to attend.
