Phillips of Tampa, Florida, celebrated his 90th birthday January 27, 2015. He is the son of the late Albert and Dolly Tompkins Phillips of Albany, Ky. Hughel retired at the age of 55 from the Federal Housing Administration and started his own housing appraisal business in Tampa. He is still doing appraisal work, golfing two or three times a week, and walks approximately two miles most days. He is married to Martha Sue Beaty Phillips, the daughter of the late Oswald and Sue Taylor Beaty of Albany. They have a daughter, Marti Phillips, San Francisco, CA, a son, Matthew Phillips, Daytona, FL and three granddaughters, Taylor and Carter Bostwick and Ava Grace Phillips.
