With the May 17 Primary Election now less than two weeks away, thoughts are beginning to turn toward a political nature in Kentucky.

Clinton County voters will be given the chance this Thursday, May 12, to greet one slate of political figures who are seeking the Republican nomination for Governor and Lt. Governor in Kentucky.

Both are highly recognizable faces to Clinton County residents, with David Williams, the candidate for Governor being a highly recognizable figure from neighboring Burkesville, while his running-mate, Richie Farmer is also an easily recognizable Kentuckian.

Williams, a Burkesville attorney, has served as Clinton County’s State Senator for many years, and for the past 10 years, has occupied one of the most powerful positions in Kentucky, that of President of the Senate.

Williams has been responsible for steering a host of funding and programs into Clinton County during his tenure, and has appeared here often to announce grants and other developments for the county.

His running mate, Farmer, is the current Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner and is also well known as a member of the University of Kentucky Basketball team that was known as “The Unforgettables”

Farmer’s high school basketball years at Clay County was also a highly celebrated career for Kentucky high school basketball fans, ending in his being named Mr. Basketball in Kentucky.

The pair of candidates are currently sweeping the state on a campaign bus tour, and are scheduled to make a stop in Albany on Thursday, May 12.

The Williams – Farmer 2011 Lead, Follow, or Get Out Of The Way Bus Tour is scheduled to stop at the Clinton County Courthouse at 1:15 p.m. local time on Thursday.
