Mountain View Recreational Park, thanks to the Healthy Hometown Coalition and others, are one final step from securing new, up-to-date playground equipment to replace the old equipment which is being moved in order to make way for the new.

Bids were opened Monday afternoon, March 23 at the Central Office by Paula Little, a member of both the HHC and Recreation Park Board and those on hand seemed pleased with the bids received, including the options they will have in choosing the best equipment to fit the needs of the local park.

A total of six bids were received on the project from companies in and out of Kentucky and all were within the minimum bid amount set out in the specifications at $75,000. Bids ranged from a low of a little over $61,000 upwards to over $72,000 base bids–with some up to $74,999 which would include the professional installation.

At least three of the bidders submitted two-option bids.

A wide array of playground equipment is included in the lengthy proposals and specifications, making it a hard decision on which equipment bid is actually the best for the money available.

That decision was left up to members of the Healthy Hometown Coalition, primarily its executive committee, and Recreation Park Board, which held a meeting Wednesday afternoon of this week, March 25 at the Central Office to review, study and eventually decide on the best company to award the successful bid to.

Funds for the project was put together by the work of the HHC, other groups and the park board itself with some fundraisers that got the actual project started a couple of years ago.

Once a bid is awarded, it is expected that delivery of the new equipment will take anywhere from two to four weeks, with the equipment still expected to be installed in time for the busiest spring and summer months at the park–May through September.

(Details of Wednesday’s meeting will be published in next week’s Clinton County News.)

Paula Little, Healthy Hometown Coalition Chairperson, and Bobby Reneau, Mountain View Park Director, opened several packets of bids for new playground equipment that will be installed at the park this spring and summer.

The playground upgrade project is expected to be an estimated $75,000 project. An executive committee overseeing the project is slated to review the bids on Wednesday of this week before selecting a winning project bid.
