Bat Dawgs pick up wins against Monroe, Caverna, drop three last week

The Bat Dawgs have started its season with a couple of wins so far, 2-3 on the year, against Monroe County and Caverna. Clinton County’s first win came against Caverna Tuesday, March 17, 12-1. Clinton County also lost a game against Caverna in the double header, 5-4.

On Thursday, March 19, the Bat Dawgs traveled to Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee looking for a win, but fell 3-1. Saturday, Clinton County defeated Monroe County in the opening round of the All “A” Classic Regional game at John Emmitt Polston Field, 2-1. Saturday’s win marked the first time in 11 years Clinton County defeated Monroe County on the baseball diamond. Clinton County hosted Berea Tuesday and will travel to York Institute on Thursday, and will wrap up the week at home on Friday against Clarkrange, Tennessee.

Caleb York started Monday’s game against Wayne County on the mound. York threw 90 pitches before getting relieved in the fifth inning. Below, Jeffery Collins fielded a throw, but it was too late to get the runner out at third.

Reed Sloan got on base with this hit Monday. Clinton County was defeated by Wayne County, 11-1.

A runner stole second during the early part of Monday’s game against Wayne County as Jacob Bertram’s tag was too late at John Emmitt Polston Field. Clinton County lost the game 11-1 and move to 2-3 on the year.
