Lake Cumberland Regional

Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting

The Lake Cumberland Area Development District (LCADD) is in the process of updating the 2016 Lake Cumberland Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The first Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting will be held on March 26, 2015 at 6:30 central time at LCADD, located at 2384 Lakeway Drive in Russell Springs. The meeting will take place prior to LCADD’s regular board meeting.

The geographic scope of the Lake Cumberland Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan includes 14 incorporated cities and all unincorporated land within Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Pulaski, McCreary, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne counties. The Plan, which is updated every five years, forms the foundation for long-term strategies to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction and repeated damage.

Open House at public library

Open House will be held at the Clinton County Public Library on Tuesday, April 14 from 3-6 p.m. Come see what the library has to offer. Refreshments will be served. You never know what you will find at the library!

Blockbuster musical coming to Burkesville

The blockbuster musical comes to Burkesville produced by the Burkesville Academy of Fine Arts. One of the most enduring shows of all time, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the irresistible family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel’s favorite son. The new production features a local cast of performers ranging in age from 6-74.

Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colors, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including, “Those Canaan Boys,” “Any Dream Will Do,” and “Close Every Door.” Write this on your calendar. The show will be performed on stage at Living Word Ministries on Friday and Saturday, March 27-28 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 29 at 2 p.m. General admission is $5.

Healthy Hometown Coalition, Rec Park Board to meet jointly

The Clinton County Healthy Hometown Coalition and the Recreation Park Board will hold a joint special call meeting(s) Wednesday, March 25 at 1 p.m. at the Central Office conference room for the purpose of reviewing submitted bids on playground equipment for Mountain View Park. All members, especially the Executive Committee of the Healthy Hometown Coalition, are urged to attend.

Head Start accepting

Lake Cumberland Head Start is now accepting applications for three and four year old children in the Clinton County area to participate in the 2015-16 school year. Head Start is a child development program that provides comprehensive services to income eligible parents and families with special needs. Qualified staff operates a center-based facility that is developmentally appropriate for children three to five years old. The center provides an environment with numerous learning opportunities and learning experiences that meet the needs of young children. Applications can be picked up at the Head Start center Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. For more information contact the Head Start center at 386-8747.

Final Little League sign-up

The last week for Little League sign-up is this Saturday, March 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Mountain View Park.

Migrant Parent Advisory Council

Clinton County School’s Migrant Program will have a Parent Advisory Council meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Early Childhood Center. We will be discussing the service delivery plan for the Migrant Education Program. There will be hot dogs and refreshments with an Easter Egg hunt for the kids and a bundle opening following the meeting. All parents who have children enrolled in the Migrant Program please try to attend this meeting. For more information call 387-6272.

Relay For Life 5K run/walk

A 5K run/walk to benefit Relay For Life will be held Saturday, April 11 at the Pickett K-8 in Byrdstown, Tennessee.
