The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and the Kentucky State Police, responded to a disturbance on Davis Chapel Road Monday morning, April 13, 2015.

Sheriff Jim Guffey said the initial call came in at 8:38 a.m. with reports of a truck hitting the wall in the parking lot of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church.

Guffey said people also reported shots being fired in the area.

Upon arrival at the scene, Guffey and Deputy David Bookout contacted KSP and a quick search for suspects was conducted at Deana Bell’s residence at 1642 Davis Chapel Road.

“After the house was cleared, we backed out and I went to obtain a search warrant on the house,” Guffey said.

After the search of the residence was complete, several items in the house suggested there was an indoor marijuana growing operation at the residence, Guffey told the Clinton County News.

According to Guffey, Bell, after wrecking her truck in the parking lot at Davis Chapel Church, allegedly obtained possession of a vehicle owned by Deputy Bookout’s father, James Bookout, who resides in the Davis Chapel Community.

Bookout’s vehicle was found parked off the side of the road in Bell’s front yard with several bullet holes in it.

Guffey said with the connection to the incident with one of his deputies, it would be a conflict of interest to work the vehicle portion of the case and that part was handed to the KSP.

As of press time, official charges for Bell had not been released by the KSP. The investigation is ongoing.

Two others were arrested in connection with the incident Monday afternoon according to Guffey.

Joseph Paul Coop, 41, and Randell G. Hicks, 41, both of Albany, were arrested in Burnside by the KSP and transported back to Clinton County Jail were they are lodged as of press time Tuesday morning.

Both Coop and Hicks were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, first offence, cultivating marijuana five plants or more, first offense, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Coop was also charged with tampering with a prisoner monitoring device and escape in the second degree.
