Kentucky Department of Corrections Director of Probation and Parole Roberto Rodriguez announced the promotion of David McIver to assistant supervisor of District 20.

McIver is a 1998 graduate of Clinton County High School. He is the son of Bobby and Mary McIver of Albany.

District 20 encompasses Pulaski, Rockcastle, Lincoln, Wayne, McCreary, Whitley, Clinton and Russell counties.

“The promotion of this young officer to assistant supervisor represents an investment in our up-and-coming talented officers,” said Rodriquez. “He is dedicated and knowledgeable beyond his years of service.”

McIver began his career with the Department of Corrections in January 2008 as a probation and parole officer in Wayne County. During his tenure, McIver has gained valuable experience in all areas of probation and parole.

McIver previously held the Class D officer responsibilities at the Russell County Detention Center, prepared presentence investigation reports, and conducted New Directions classes for offenders. He presently serves as the sole District 20 re-entry liaison and is in the process of starting a 24/7 Dads course.

In addition to offender supervision, McIver has extensive circuit court experience, providing truth in sentencing testimony during trials and serving on both Wayne and Russell County Drug Court teams.

McIver has served on the case audit tool committee which was redesigned for 2015, and was the recipient of the District 20 Probation and Parole Achievement Award at the 2014 DOC Awards Banquet. He is a 2004 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and is a current participant in the 2014-15 Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Program.

In addition to McIver’s probation and parole duties, he serves as pastor of the Parnell Baptist Church in Monticello and is also a volunteer firefighter for the Albany Fire Department.
