Little League Opening Day

Little League opening day will be Saturday, May 2. Parade line-up will begin at 11 a.m. at Clinton County Middle School, with the parade at 11:30 a.m. Games will follow during the afternoon at Mountain View Park.

City Council regular meeting

Albany City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, May 5 at 5 p.m. at city hall. The meeting is open to the public.

National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer will be observed nationwide on Thursday, May 7. The theme for 2015 is “Loud Hear Our Cry.” A proclamation was signed by Mayor Nicky Smith and Judge/Executive Richard Armstrong proclaiming this as a day of prayer in Albany and Clinton County.

Everyone is encouraged to acknowledge this day by praying for our city, county, state and nation.

An event will be held on the courthouse square at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7. In the event of inclement weather, we will meet at the Learning Center.

Please come join us as we come together and pray. There will be a candlelight service, praise and worship led by Bro. Michael Cooper, optional communion, preaching and prayer.

Park board regular meeting

The Recreation Park Board will hold its regular meeting Thursday, April 30 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the general public.

Boys and Girls Ranch Camp

It’s camp time at the Kentucky Sheriffs Boys and Girls Ranch. Come spend a week at summer camp where all of the activities are fun and exciting! There will be archery, swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, horse back riding, sports, camp fires and more! The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department will be sending three boys on June 14-19 and three girls on June 21-26, ages 8-11 only. If interested, stop by the sheriff’s office for an application and more information.

Animal Shelter announces hours

Tri-County Animal Shelter will now be open every second Saturday of the month, beginning May 9, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Dogs and cats will be given away free to anyone wishing to give them a forever home.

Early Head Start

Lake Cumberland Early Head Start program is now accepting applications for children ages birth to three, and expecting moms in the Clinton County area for the 2015-16 school year. Early Head Start is a development program that provides comprehensive services to income eligible parents and families with special needs. Qualified staff operates a center-based facility that is developmentally appropriate for children birth to three years old. The center provides an environment with numerous learning opportunities and learning experiences that meet the needs of young children.
