Zach McFall and Bianca Soma both made it beyond the first round of the regional tournament held at Allen County/Scottsville last weekend with both falling in the third round. McFall lost a close match 5-7 and 5-7, while Soma fell to the number one rated player in the region, Lauren Wisemen of Bowling Green, 3-6 and 0-6.

Also in regional play, Matthew Wells lost his first round matchup in singles play and the team of Ashley Harper and Kristen Smith fell in their first round doubles match. Also in singles play, Rachel Claborn lost her first round matchup.

On the boys’ side in doubles play, Matthew Hunter and John Crouch made it to the second round, but were defeated in that round, as well as the team of Glen England and Haley Matthews losing in the second round.

In other awards, Soma received the 4th Region female tennis sportsmanship award at the regional finals on Tuesday, May 5th. This award is voted on by the region coaches.
