J.D. and Sally Tallent

J.D. and Sally Tallent of Burkesville will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on May 20, 2011. The Tallents, pictured above on their wedding day, were married in Crossville, Tennessee. J.D. grew up in Albany and was the son of Aaron “Dock” and Reba Tallent and is one of nine children. J.D.’s brothers, Bobby, Johnny, Gary and Wendell are Albany residents. Sally grew up in Burkesville, the daughter of Brownie Thrasher and Mary Kate Sands, and was raised by Oscar and Robbie Thrasher. J.D. and Sally have one daughter, Lesley, who resides in Elmhurst, Illinois with her husband and son.

The Tallents moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1962 where they lived 31 years before returning back to Burkesville in 1993. The Tallents are members of Mount Union Christian Church in Albany. A celebration is being planned in July so the family can celebrate both their 50th anniversary and J.D.’s 70th birthday. 31-1c
