Hospice of Lake Cumberland will be hosting its annual Memorial Services. Join staff, volunteers, and other Hospice families as we honor your loved one’s memory and reflect on the difference they made in our lives.

Smoke detectors to be delivered

The CCHS Leo Club, Red Cross and Albany Fire Department will be delivering free smoke detectors to all residents who signed up to get one through the Leo Club project recently. Deliveries will be made to those households this coming Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and residents will be notified in advance. Any detectors not delivered this Saturday will be delivered the following Saturday, May 16.

Another sign-up geared toward county-wide residents who are in need of a smoke detector in their homes will be held and announced at a later date.

School Board regular meeting

Clinton County Board of Education is scheduled to hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, April 18 at 5 p.m. at the Central Office Board Room. The meeting is open to the general public.

National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer will be observed nationwide on Thursday, May 7. The theme for 2015 is “Lord Hear Our Cry.” A proclamation was signed by Mayor Nicky Smith and Judge/Executive Richard Armstrong proclaiming this as a day of prayer in Albany and Clinton County.

Everyone is encouraged to acknowledge this day by praying for our city, county, state and nation.

An event will be held on the courthouse square at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7. In the event of inclement weather, we will meet at the Learning Center.

Please come join us as we come together and pray. There will be a candlelight service, praise and worship led by Bro. Michael Cooper, optional communion, preaching and prayer.

Boys and Girls Ranch Camp

It’s camp time at the Kentucky Sheriffs Boys and Girls Ranch. Come spend a week at summer camp where all of the activities are fun and exciting! There will be archery, swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, horse back riding, sports, camp fires and more! The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department will be sending three boys on June 14-19 and three girls on June 21-26, ages 8-11 only. If interested, stop by the sheriff’s office for an application and more information.

Animal Shelter announces hours

Tri-County Animal Shelter will now be open every second Saturday of the month, beginning May 9, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Dogs and cats will be given away free to anyone wishing to give them a forever home.

The shelter is located next to Equity Group on Hwy. 90. Phone 606-387-0943 for more information. Please come by and get a friend for life.

Early Head Start

applications

Lake Cumberland Early Head Start program is now accepting applications for children ages birth to three, and expecting moms in the Clinton County area for the 2015-16 school year. Early Head Start is a development program that provides comprehensive services to income eligible parents and families with special needs. Qualified staff operates a center-based facility that is developmentally appropriate for children birth to three years old. The center provides an environment with numerous learning opportunities and learning experiences that meet the needs of young children. Vegetable Plant Sale

Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center will be having a Vegetable Plant Sale May 4th and 5th! Starting at 9:00 a.m. Three or four pack for $1 or $11 a flat.

Water Aerobics

Water Aerobics Class has started back at the Wellness Center. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 am. Cost is free to members and $3 for non members.
