Three bodies held special called meeting over the past week, including Clinton County Fiscal Court, Board of Education and the Park Board Executive Committee. The following are actions from each:
* Fiscal Court: The fiscal court held a special call meeting last Thursday morning, May 7 and voted on two items of business.
The court approved two fund transfers of $40,000 each from the Occupational Tax fund to the general fund and jail fund, for a total of $80,000 in transfers.
They also approved a $532 re-activation fee to Medicaid for the use of allowing continued ambulance service, or ambulance run billing, to Medicaid for patients who qualify. The fee is paid to either Medicaid or Medicare each five years.
The next regular meeting of Clinton Fiscal Court is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m.
* School board: The Clinton County Board of Education met last Thursday afternoon, May 7 with only one item of business, other than approving the agenda. The board held a non-action work session to give review of the 2015-16 fiscal year “tentative” budget presented by Finance Director Mike Reeves. The board will possibly act on the budget proposal at its regular business meeting next Monday evening, May 18 at 5 p.m.
The tentative budget is one of three presented to the board over the course of the calendar year. A draft budget–with the necessity of action–is presented in January. The tentative budget, which requires approval, is in the spring, and the final working budget is passed around September of each year.
* Park Board Executive Committee: The Recreation Park Board’s executive committee met Monday at noon at the Central Office to open bids on the old playground equipment. Three pieces of equipment, a small playhouse, a larger playhouse and playground items were sold in three different bid categories.
Around ten total bids were received with the committee voting to accept the high bid on each.
Lester Beaty was high bidder on the small playground (bid one) at $101.50; Lucas Thacker was awarded the bid on bid two, the larger playhouse at $351.04; and Hunter Shearer was high bidder on bid three, the playground items, at $251.00, for a total of $703.54.
The next regular meeting of the Recreation Park Board is scheduled for Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m.
