Two vehicle accident dispatches two helicopters to the scene

Kentucky State Police Trooper Brian Gibson, above, right, is investigating a collision that occurred Wednesday, May 6, at 1:23 p.m. east of US 127 bypass on KY 90. Derrick Patton, 26-year-old of Liberty, was operating an eastbound 2011 Ford truck when he stopped to make a left hand turn and was struck in the rear by a 2004 Pontiac, shown above, operated by 22-year-old Carlos Perez of Monticello.

Both Perez and a passenger, 20-year-old Christina R. Perez of Monticello, were not belted and were flown from the scene to UK Medical Center. Another passenger, 1-year-old Juan Perez, who was in a child restraint, was transported to Clinton County Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Patton was belted and was not injured. Gibson was assisted at the scene by Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Clinton County EMS and the Albany Fire Department.

Below, two med evac helicopters were called to the scene of the accident with both landing only minutes apart on KY 90.
