Cadence Miller’s Pennies for Paws campaign underway

Cadence Miller is leading a Pennies for Paws the entire month of May to help provide pet food for the Clinton County Animal Shelter. Cadence has placed several jars in the Clinton County Middle School to allow students to participate in this great cause for our counties animals. Additionally, there are jars located at Bowlin Feed Store, Albany Full Service Station and Albany Animal Clinic if you are interested in helping her reach her goal of $168. This amount would furnish the Animal Shelter with a 40 lb bag of food for 12 months!

Clinton County Schools Title II District Meeting

There will be a Title II Meeting Friday, May 22nd at 1:30 p.m. at the Clinton County School Superintendent’s office. The purpose of the meeting will be to review the district’s Title II plan for the upcoming school year. All parents are invited to attend.

Clinton Fiscal Court meeting

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m. at the courthouse. The meeting is open to the general public.

Green Shopping this Friday

Please join us for Green Shopping Friday, May 15 at 9:30 a.m. at the Community Center. There will be education and contests. Feel free to bring and share with us some of your ideas or items within one of these categories, re-cycle; re-use; re-purpose; re-sell. Please bring your own shopping bags to participate in our Green Shopping contests, or get crafty and make your own. Hope to see you there!

School board work session cancelled

Due to the school board holding a call meeting work session last Wednesday, the regular board of education work session scheduled for Thursday, May 14 has been cancelled.

Twin Lakes to host

Zumbathon

Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center will be hosting a Stay Fit Zumbathon on June 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Clinton County High School. Pre-register by Friday, May 22 for $20 and receive a t-shirt. Day of event registration is $25. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Zumbathon begins at 10 a.m. Children 4-9, $1 entry fee; 10-15, $5 entry fee. Each child will receive a goody bag. There will be door prizes, give-aways, kids’ dance party, games and activities and pizza. For more information contact Charlotte at the Twin Lakes Wellness Center, Virginia Conner in the basement of the courthouse, Amanda Guffey at Warner Fertilize or Angie Thomas Huff in Burkesville for a registration form.

Smoke detectors to be delivered

The CCHS Leo Club, Red Cross and Albany Fire Department will be delivering free smoke detectors to all residents who signed up to get one through the Leo Club project recently. Deliveries will be made to those households this coming Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and residents will be notified in advance.

Another sign-up geared toward county-wide residents who are in need of a smoke detector in their homes will be held and announced at a later date.

School Board regular meeting

Clinton County Board of Education is scheduled to hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, May 18 at 5 p.m. at the Central Office Board Room. The meeting is open to the general public.

Boys and Girls Ranch Camp

It’s camp time at the Kentucky Sheriffs Boys and Girls Ranch. Come spend a week at summer camp where all of the activities are fun and exciting! There will be archery, swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, horse back riding, sports, camp fires and more! The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department will be sending three boys on June 14-19 and three girls on June 21-26, ages 8-11 only. If interested, stop by the sheriff’s office for an application and more information.

Early Head Start

applications

Lake Cumberland Early Head Start program is now accepting applications for children ages birth to three, and expecting moms in the Clinton County area for the 2015-16 school year. Early Head Start is a development program that provides comprehensive services to income eligible parents and families with special needs. Qualified staff operates a center-based facility that is developmentally appropriate for children birth to three years old. The center provides an environment with numerous learning opportunities and learning experiences that meet the needs of young children. Ricky Pickens will offer an Adult Martial Arts class Monday 4 p.m. and a youth Martial Arts class Wednesdays at 5 p.m.

Yoga Class

Vegetable Plant Sale

Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center will be having a Vegetable Plant Sale May 4th and 5th! Starting at 9:00 a.m. Three or four pack for $1 or $11 a flat.

Water Aerobics

Water Aerobics Class has started back at the Wellness Center. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 am. Cost is free to members and $3 for non members.
