Local Health Board meeting

The Clinton County local Board of Health will have a special meeting on Monday, June 22 at 6 p.m. Central Time in the conference room at the health department. The meeting is open to the general public.

VFW Bicycle Derby schedule

Albany VFW Post #1096 annual Bicycle Derby will be Saturday, June 20 at the VFW Post/Ball field on Hopkins Street in Albany for children ages 2-13. Bike safety inspections will be from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. with races starting at 1 p.m. Entry forms will be handed out during inspections. There is no entry fee. The event is sponsored by the VFW, American Legion Post #135 and local businesses.

Head Start accepting applications

Lake Cumberland Head Start is now accepting applications for three and four-year old children in the Clinton County area to participate in the 2015-16 school year. Head Start is a child development program that provides comprehensive services to income eligible parents and families with special needs. Qualified staff operates a center-based facility that is developmentally appropriate for children three to five years old. The center provides an environment with numerous learning opportunities and learning experiences that meet the needs of young children. Applications can be picked up at the Head Start center Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. For more information contact the Head Start center at 387-8747.

‘The Underground Railroad in Kentucky’

The Clinton County Public Library and Stephen A. Brown will present “The Underground Railroad in Kentucky” on Tuesday, June 16 from 5-6 p.m. at the library. Come learn how slavery impacted President Abraham Lincoln’s early years in Kentucky. 33-3

Clinton County Board of Education is scheduled to have a work session on Thursday, June 11 at 4:30 p.m. and its regular business meeting Monday, January 15 at 5 p.m., both at the Central Office board room and both open to the public. 34-2

Fiscal Court special meeting

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold a special call meeting Tuesday, June 16 at 5 p.m. in the upstairs courtroom of the courthouse. The meeting will be in lieu of the regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, June 18, which has been cancelled. The meeting is open to the public.
