Joel Thomas Upchurch, 82, Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at Highlands Medical Center in Sparta, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Grady and Nora Storie Upchurch, husband of the late Wilma Cantrell Upchurch and was also preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and elder of Mt. Herman Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Gayle Alexander, Cincinnati, OH; Terry (Eddie) Tompkins, Albany; two sisters, Carol Pickard and Janet Hines; two grandsons, Phil Mahan and Barry Tompkins; four great-grandchildren, Taylor and Caleb Mahan and Daisy and Emma Tompkins; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 15, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home with Richard Bond and Maury Norman officiating. Final resting place in Highland Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements were made through Hunter Funeral Home of Cookeville, Tennessee.
