Clinton County High School will hold its ninety-fourth Commencement Program Friday night, May 27 at the high school gym. The graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2011 will mark the end of secondary education for some 96 young CCHS students.
The ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. with the processional by the Clinton County High School Band, with the JROTC Senior Colorguard presenting the colors. The invocation will be delivered by Laramie Scott.
Three musical selections will follow, including by senior band members; Megan Norris; and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” will be performed by Ben Huddleston, Leroy Malaefono and Tabitha Malaefono.
CCHS Principal Sheldon Harlan will then make the awards presentation to those seniors who have received scholarships or been recognized for other academic achievements throughout the year.
The 2011 senior class will then present a slide show, “Out of the Blue.” During the slide presentation, the Salutatorian, Danielle Brown, will give the welcome address, the Historian, Odessa Gross, will present the class history and the Valedictorian, Brandon Shepherd will deliver the farewell address.
The moment that most of the seniors have been waiting for at least the past four years will take place, when they will be awarded their high school diplomas by schools superintendent Mickey McFall. That will be followed by the tassel ceremony conducted by the class officers, the benediction by Madison Brooking and the recessional by the high school band.
Students with gold tassels and sashes signify seniors who qualify in scholarship, character and leadership for membership in the National Beta Club.
The red, white and blue cords signify seniors who have completed course work that exceeds the standard requirements and enables them to receive a Comprehensive Diploma which surpasses the standards set forth in the pre-college curriculum.
Seniors who graduate with honors are those receiving a Comprehensive Diploma, earning a GPA of 3.0 or better, and maintaining an attendance rate of at least ninety percent for the past two school years.
