Cumberland Project Graduation

Firecracker Beauty Pageant

Cumberland County High School Class of 2016 will be having a Firecracker Beauty Pageant Friday, July 3 in the multi-purpose room at Living Word Ministries on Hwy. 90 East in Burkesville. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m., the pageant begins at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $15. Additional categories include Most Photogenic, Prettiest Smile, Prettiest Hair, Best Dressed and Prettiest Eyes, $5 each or $35 for all. Couples include Wee Miss and Mister Firecracker 3-4 years and Miss and Mister Firecracker 5-6 years. Dress code 0-9 years Patriotic wear; 10 and above pageant wear. Fee is $20 per couple. First place will receive a trophy and tiara. Second and third place will receive a trophy. Additional categories will receive a trophy. Couples first place will receive a trophy and crown/tiara. Second place will receive a trophy. All first place winners are invited to ride in the 4th of July Parade. Age groups for girls: 0-6 month, 7-11 months, 1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-6 years, 7-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-14 years, 15-16 years. Boys 0-6 months, 7-11 months, 1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-6 years. GNT to host fundraising gala

Good Neighbors Theatre will be hosting the annual Fundraising Gala at the home of Kay Elder on Saturday, September 26. The catered dinner will feature a variety of entertainment during a twilight meal centered around a European Renaissance area theme. Invitations to previous attendees and those recently expressing interest in GNT activities will be mailed in August. A written invitation is not required to attend, however. Anyone interested in supporting and becoming involved with Good Neighbors Theatre is urged to attend. It is a perfect opportunity to mix and mingle with old and new friends, couples and singles. Talk to your friends and set aside the date on your calendar now to plan to attend together. An RSVP will be required and donations will be greatly appreciated to further the productions of Good Neighbors Theatre. More information will be coming soon–watch for it here.

The Clinton County News office will be closed Friday, July 3 observance of the Independence Day holiday.

The Clinton County Clerk’s office will be closed Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Adult Summer Reading Program

New Diabetes 101 class offered

A new Diabetes 101 class will be offered Tuesday, July 7 from 5-7 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. The class is free but pre-registration is required by calling 387-5711, ext. 1166. Watch for more diabetes classes coming in September and October.

Foothills Camp Meeting 2015

The 7th annual Kentucky Foothills Camp meeting will be held Thursday through Saturday, July 9-11 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. nightly. There will be special singing by The Schofields, Joshua Haines and others, and special preaching by Dr. Todd Zike and Donnie Bunch. Eaglets 6-12 years old and Eagles, 13-18 years old. Crop reporting deadline

Farm Service Agency announces that the final date to report all crops, except small grains and certain NAP crops is July 15. Reports filed after the reporting deadline are subject to a late reporting fee. Please remember that filing an accurate acreage report can prevent the loss of benefits for a variety of programs. City Council regular meeting

Albany City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, July 7 at 5 p.m. at city hall. The meeting is open to the public.
