This year’s fireworks proved to be a crowd favorite as spectators located at the Clinton County Middle School cheered nearly the entire 35 minutes the show lasted. Above, car show fans walked around Mountain View park earlier on Saturday to view old, new and classic cars during the car show. At 6 p.m., singers took the stage for the gospel singing as Betty Carol Cross, Becky Morgan, Kelly Latham and Bro. Bob Sawyers sang several songs for the crowd.

This year’s celebration proved to be an event to expand on in future years with this year’s event lasting from 3 p.m. until 9:35. The event was hosted by the Albany/Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, Mountain View Park and the Healthy Hometown Coalition.

Chamber of Commerce President Rick Mercader estimated around 3,000 people were in attendance of the fireworks show. The chamber would like to thank all of the sponsors for helping make the show a success.

Matt Brewington put up a shot during the Hot Shots Basketball Competition, a new activity at this year’s July 4th Celebration. The event was popular among kids and adults alike as entries enjoyed a friendly competition amongst each other. One of the crowd favorites among the kids was the inflatables and the rock wall area. Tristin Rogers and Ailina Malaefono spent their turn trying to get to the top as a long line waited. Below, several spectators brought fold-out chairs and blankets to set up during the Gospel Singing. The Clinton County Alumni Band performed following the Gospel Singing and played up to the beginning of the fireworks at 9 p.m.
