Bat Dawgs shutout in district

Brett White fielded a ground ball and tried to tag Russell County’s Martin Cross in a rundown, but Cross managed to reach third base safely. Clinton County lost the game, which was the first round of the District Tournament, 7-0. The Bat Dawgs finished its season, 8-23.

Kylan Asher got position under the ball during Clinton County’s first round game against Russell County in the 16th District Tournament held Monday, May 23. Clinton County couldn’t get its offense going and was shutout, 7-0.

Jake Woodruff connected with a ball during the first round of the district tournament. His “high chopper” was fielded and Woodruff was thrown out at first.

Matt Staton tried for a double play, getting the runner out at second, but his throw was a little too late to retire the runner at first.

Donovan Edwards picked up a ground ball and made an off balance throw to retire a runner Monday afternoon. Clinton County lost the game to the Lakers and finished its season in the first round of the district tournament. Russell County will move on to play Cumberland County in the finals.

Jarred Bertram covered the plate after a wild pitch to get the runner trying to steal home. Clinton County lost the game by a final score of 7-0, and finished its season with an 8-23 record. Russell County will move on to play Cumberland County in the finals of the 16th District Tournament.
