The Clinton County Healthy Hometown Coalition partnered with the Clinton County Public Library Friday to add a touch of exercise to the Back-to-School Bash. The event saw 48 volunteers, 43 of whom were youth volunteers, along with five adults to serve the 125 kids and 80 adults.

Healthy Hometown Coordinator April Speck said she was excited for Healthy Hometown to be apart of the summer reading program.

“The library staff does an amazing job with kids in our community so we were excited to add a small component to their end of summer reading,” Speck said.

The event had 12 different stations for the kids to participate in, each station running around three to five minutes. Those stations included ABC Yoga from Stacy Smith, Clinton County Extension Office, hula hoop, jump rope and many others. Speck said the idea of the event was to have a variety of physical activity stations that are non-expensive so anyone could incorporate physical activity into their day.

Bianca Soma volunteered to teach a little soccer to kids in her station Friday during the Back-to-School Bash.

Corwin Spaulding, right, from KET, spent the morning filming the Back-to-School Bash at the Clinton County Public Library. Spaulding was also on hand for the Fourth of July Celebration. According to April Speck, Healthy Hometown Coordinator, KET has plans to run a special on several events going on in Clinton County. No official date is set for when the piece will air.
