Stacey Ferguson Evans will be the new principal at Clinton County High School beginning with this 2015-16 school year.
Evans, who for several years has been an instructor at Clinton County High School teaching in the history department, was chosen by the school’s Site Based Decision Making Council following a process of putting together questions and criteria for the position, accepting applications and conducting interviews.
The total number of applications submitted was not released.
The hiring came just one day ahead of the official opening day of school, which was Wednesday of this week for staff only, and two days prior to the first day for students this Thursday.
With the change at the high school, there will be two schools in the district with new principals this year.
Sheldon Harlan, long-time principal at CCHS was recently hired in the same capacity at the Early Childhood Center and has been working in that position for the past several weeks.
Harlan replaced former ECC Principal Tina Langford, who is now interim Director of School District Programs until her retirement on October 1 of this year.
Evans hiring came at a special call meeting of the CCHS SBDM held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at the high school and was announced following a closed session discussing personnel.
Due to the timing of the hiring at press deadline, a more complete article on the new CCHS principal will be published in next week’s Clinton County News.
