Albany City Council, after having to postpone its regular meeting earlier in the month due to the lack of a quorum, held a brief special call meeting last Thursday evening at city hall, this time will all six council members on hand, but a limited item of business on the agenda.

After approving the minutes from the July regular meeting, the council, on a motion by councilman Tony Delk, voted to set the city tax rates for the coming year at .18 cents per $100 assessed value on real property and .20 cents per $100 assessed value on tangible (motor vehicle and water craft.)

Council members noted the above rates are the same as the current year, and in fact, haven’t increased since at least the early 1990s.

The only other item of business on the call meeting agenda was to declare a 1995 Ford F150XLT pickup truck as surplus property and sell to the highest bidder via sealed bid.

The motion to declare the truck as surplus was made by councilman Brad Thrasher and passed by unanimous vote.

The next regular meeting of Albany City Council is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1 at 5 p.m. at city hall and is open to the public.
