Headed to the All ‘A’ State
Congratulations are certainly in order to several Clinton County High School golfers this week.
Lady Golf Dawg head coach Jessica Conner was all smiles this week after her Ladies won the 4th Region All ‘A’ Golf Tournament last week.
Lady Golf Dawgs Addison Bernard, Macy Campbell, Samantha Stinson, all juniors, London Honeycutt, a sophomore and eighth grader Victoria Honeycutt picked up the coveted All ‘A’ championship last week. The ladies finished the tournament with a team total of 179.
In addition, congrats are also in order to Golf Dawg Kyle Choate and boys’ coach Nick Irwin. Although the second place Golf Dawgs finished just out of team qualifications by one spot, Kyle Choate’s round of 38 will see him advance to the individual All ‘A’ State Tournament.
Both the girl’s and boys’ state tournaments are slated to be held in early September. Once again, congratulations to our Lady Golf Dawgs and to Golf Dawg Kyle Choate on these achievements.
Photos and more information appear this week in Sports.
Volley Dawgs bring home the hardware
Likewise, our Volley Dawgs Volleyball team returned home last weekend to put some new hardware into the C.C.H.S. trophy case in the Lindle Castle Gymnasium lobby.
Volley Dawg Head Coach Kayla Kriek and the team traveled to McCreary Central over the weekend to compete in the invitational tournament there, returning after picking up four victories to win the event.
Congrats to Coach Kriek and our Lady Volley Dawgs. Again, a team photo with the new trophy is included this week.
Gridiron off to a rocky start
Things didn’t get off to such a good start Friday night for our gridiron Bulldogs in the 2015 season opener.
Playing host to neighboring Pickett County, the Bulldogs fell behind in the first half, and things seemed to just get worse as the night continued, eventually ending in a 32-0 loss at the hands of the Bobcats.
Clinton County will stay in Kentucky for the remainder of the season, with back to back road games next up on the schedule. This Friday night, the Bulldogs head to Trimble County to take on the Raiders.
Both teams suffered opening round, lop-sided losses this past week, so both will be looking to pick up the first win of the year. The Raiders lost to the Eminence Warriors this past Friday by a score of 52-12.
Kickoff for Friday night’s game at Trimble County is set for 7:00 p.m. central time.
Fill your gas tanks if you plan on heading to Bedford, Kentucky – you’re traveling to the Ohio River just above Frankfort.
Good luck Dawgs!
