The Bulldogs didn’t fare well on either side of the football Friday night as the first game of the season went down as a loss for Clinton County, 32-0, against neighboring Pickett County, TN.
Head Coach Jamie Miller said he has a lot to work on this week.
“I didn’t have them mentally or physically prepared for this game and that’s on me,” Miller said. “I thought they were ready. We have a lot of work to do this week and we are going to take it one day at a time until we fix what we need to. We did not come out prepare for battle. I’m very disappointed in our play as a whole, not just the players, but the coaches as well, including myself.”
On offense, Miller said there were several times during the game where his team just fell short and failed to get into the endzone.
“Sometimes the stars align and it don’t matter what you do,” Miller said. “If your not dominating it seems like everything in falling against you. It seamed like we would get in sync and start moving the football then something crazy would happen.”
Miller said he is going to spend most of the upcoming working on the offensive line.
“We had some back not blocking, some receivers not running their routes and quarterbacks not throwing the ball well and we had a lot of missed tackles,” Miller said. “We have a lot of work to do, but thankfully we still have nine games left.”
The Bulldogs will be on the road for the next two Friday nights, with the first against Trimble County and the following week against McCreary Central.
Corey Arms made a tackle during the second half of Clinton County’s season opener against Pickett County. The Bulldogs lost the contest 32-0.
