J.D. Simmons, 87, Albany, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Clinton County Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Stony Point Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wives, Ruby York Simmons Walker and Hazel Byers Guffey Simmons and two sisters, Mary Montgomery and Sue Tate.
He is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Williams, Modoc, IN; Janie and Jack Hunter, Jacksonville, FL; Eva and Jerry Collins, Shepherdsville, KY; Janice and Odell Marlow and Peggy and Kenny Thomas, all of Albany; three sons and daughters-in-law, J.R. and Martha Simmons, Byrdstown, TN; Freddie and Amie Simmons and Jimmy and Peggy Simmons, all of Albany; a sister, Bercie White, Springfield, TN; two brothers, Arnold Simmons, Albany; Johnny Simmons, Louisville, KY; special sister-in-law, Minnie Warinner, Albany; also 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Talbott Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Brown and Bro. Jim England officiating. Final resting place in Memorial Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements were made through Talbott Funeral Home of Albany.
