Clinton Grand Jury convenes

The Clinton County Grand Jury convened in regular session Thursday, August 13 and handed down the following indictments in open Circuit Court:

* Larry W. Thompson, the alleged offenses of criminal mischief first degree by damaging or destroying property of another resulting in over $1,000 damage; burglary third degree by remaining unlawfully in a building belonging to another with the intent to commit a crime; theft by unlawful taking or disposition by taking numerous tools of another, having a value of over $10,000; escape second degree by escaping custody from the Clinton County Jail and four total counts of persistent felony offender second degree for having committing aforesaid offenses while having been convicted of a prior felony offense within the past five years.

* Joshua K. Sparks, the alleged offenses of burglary third degree by remaining unlawfully in a building belonging to another with the intent to commit a crime; theft by unlawful taking or disposition by taking numerous tools belonging to another, having a value of more than $10,000; criminal mischief first degree by destroying or causing damage to another’s property amounting to damage over $1,000; and three counts of persistent felony offender first degree by having committed the aforesaid offenses while being stood convicted of a prior felony offense within the past five years.

* Amanda Shaw, the alleged offenses of criminal mischief first degree by destroying or damaging the property of another, causing damage in excess of $1,000 and theft by unlawful taking or disposition by exercising control of a Story & Clark piano, cedar wardrobe, wood stove, wood, quilts and comforters that belonged to another person, having a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000.

* James A. Denney, the alleged offenses of theft by unlawful taking or disposition by exercising control over a Story & Clark piano, cedar wardrobe, wood stove, wood, quilts and comforters that belonged to another person, having a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000 and criminal mischief first degree by destroying or damaging property of another, causing damage in excess of $1,000.

* Kevin D. Haddix, the alleged offenses of theft by unlawful taking or disposition by exercising control of 17 panels and a calf feeder, belonging to another person, having a value of over $500 but less than $10,000 and persistent felony offender second degree, by committing the aforesaid offense while being stood convicted of a prior felony offense within the past five years.

* Randall G. Hicks, the alleged offense of persistent felony offender second degree (three counts) by allegedly committing the offenses of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and marijuana cultivation while being stood convicted of a prior felony offense within the past five years.

* Jennifer Owens, the alleged offense of burglary second degree by remaining unlawfully in a dwelling that belonged to another with the intent to commit a crime.

* Bethany Brown, the alleged offense of criminal possession of a forged instrument second degree, by passing two checks to a store in the amounts of $28.24 and $26.90, with the knowledge said checks were forged with another person’s name.

(An indictment is a statement of probable cause to believe an offense has been committed and further court proceedings are warranted. Individuals named in an indictment are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.)
