The Clinton County Football team put its first “W” in the win column Friday night as the team traveled to Trimble County.

The Dawgs won the game 34-6 and completely controlled the tempo of the game for the entire four quarters.

Head Coach Jamie Miller was more pleased how his team played this week and he felt that was the end result to a great week of practice.

“We started substituting heavily in the third quarter,” Miller said. “It could have been worse than that, but they scored with eight tenths of a second remaining. We had a fantastic week of practice and I felt like if we came out like we had in practice all week it was going to work out for us.”

During the game, Miller said everyone on his roster saw playing time during Friday night’s game.

“We had some young kids who made some plays. Even in the fourth quarter, it took a long time for their starters to go down the field on our reserves,” Miller said. “We shut them down offensively and defensively.”

Clinton County will have one more road game, against McCreary Central, before hitting Bulldog Field on September 11 against Webster County.

McCreary Central is more improved since last year’s team according to Miller. Last season, the Dawgs defeated McCreary Central at home, 44-24.

“We have watched game film and broke the game down and they are an improved team,” Miller said. “I think with them seeing how practice needs to be and how it turns out, it will carry over. We are going to do a continuation of what we did last week. We worked a lot on fundamentals, individual offense and individual defense.”

Clinton County’s game against McCreary Central is slated to kick off at 7 p.m. Friday night, September 4.
