Dawgs pick up loss Friday

A separate article appears elsewhere this week in Sports with more details, but long story short – the gridiron Dawgs picked up a loss Friday night over in south-central Kentucky when they met up against the Colonels of Caverna.

The 40-26 loss moved the Bulldogs to a 3-2 overall mark as they prepare this week to head over to Edmonton to take on the Hornets of Metcalfe County.

Metcalfe will be taking a 0-5 season mark into Friday night’s game after having suffered a 21-6 loss at the hands of Edmonson County this past Friday night.

Kickoff for the Clinton County – Metcalfe County contest is slated for 7:00 p.m.

Meet the Bulldogs date set, Wall of Fame members selected

I know we’re still in the middle of the fall sports season at Clinton County, but there are a couple of things that should be noted concerning the upcoming winter sports run and in particular, basketball.

Roundball fans still have a couple of months plus before we throw up the rock for the first time to get the 2015-16 season off and running, but there is now a set date for the traditional kickoff event of the season.

Athletic Director Mike Beard has announced that the Meet the Bulldogs night will take place on Friday, November 13, at Clinton County High School.

In conjunction with that same night of events, we can now announce who the newest inductees onto the C.C.H.S. Basketball Wall of Fame will be, and I must say they are both very worthy players.

For the Lady Bulldogs, we will see one of the standout players from Clinton County’s most celebrated teams being inducted when #25 Dorothy Papineau will be honored.

Of course Dorothy was a member of the “Fab Five” group who, in 2005, took Lexington Catholic down to the wire in the Sweet 16 Championship game, eventually giving up the contest by a heartbreaking five points.

That game was dubbed across the state as the contest between Public and Private schools.

The Bulldogs will play homage to the “Gentle Giant”, standout big man Sheldon Harlan, whose photograph has long been on my own “Wall of Fame” here in the office from where the Bulldogs raised the 16th District Championship Trophy in 1992 – a feat that wasn’t supposed to happen in that season.

I’ll get more detailed about the accomplishments of these two soon to be Wall of Fame members as the date for the induction ceremony gets closer, but when you see either of these two during the next few weeks, give ‘em a pat on the back.
