Dawgs suffer another loss, enter Friday at 3-3

Seems the wheels fell off of the plan for the Bulldogs Friday night over in Edmonton as the Hornets bested Clinton County from start to finish.

Bottom line is that our Dawgs picked up the worst defeat of the season against Metcalfe County, suffering a 48-0 loss.

The loss means that our Dawgs will be returning home to Bulldog Field this Friday night when they play host to the Wildcats of Lynn Camp.

Lynn Camp will be coming to Albany after having just suffered a loss of its own, falling to Jellico, Tennessee this past Friday night by a score of 44-14.

The Wildcats will be going up against the Dawgs with a pretty nice 4-2 record on the season.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

Get there early for Homecoming festivities

Although kick-off this Friday night is set for 7:00 p.m., here is a reminder to all fans to get out to Bulldog Field early for the game to be sure to enjoy the Homecoming festivities that are set to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Although some schedules noted that an earlier date would be set aside for homecoming, the change was made earlier in the season to accommodate things that were out of athletic department control – dress shopping time.

Sid again under the weather

Longtime Bulldog WANY sports broadcaster Sid Scott is again under the weather with some serious health issues.

For a long stretch earlier in the summer, Sid had a serious bout with double pneumonia and was hospitalized for an extended stretch, followed by a lengthy rehab program.

I talked with Sid a couple of weeks ago when the Basketball Wall of Fame meeting was held, and while he was still weak, he was in good spirits and even made fun of most of us there at one time or another – true form for Sid.

Apparently a set-back has hit him and his condition currently is very serious.

Sid is back in the hospital at Cookeville and is again having some very serious issues that are related to the earlier pneumonia. I talked to his daughter, Lynn Starnes, on Tuesday morning and she told me that his condition is indeed very serious.

The family deeply appreciates any thoughts and prayers.
