Dawgs get tough down the stretch – pick up hard earned win

Our Bulldogs, after coming off a loss the week before, stepped up and showed some toughness down the stretch as they held on this past Friday night to a narrow lead to pick up a nice, hard earned victory over the Lynn Camp Wildcats.

Clinton County’s 28-26 down to the wire win at Bulldog Field Friday night moves our record back to the top side of the over .500 mark at 4-3.

Only three more games remain on this 2015 pigskin schedule, two of which are home games, with one away.

The Dawgs will host Red Boiling Springs this coming Friday night – in what should be a dog fight as the two Bulldog squads go at each other.

Red Boiling Springs will be coming to Clinton County with a 2-5 overall record and are coming off back to back losses, having suffered a 42-17 defeat three weeks ago at the hands of Monterey then after an open week, suffering a 28-0 loss last week against Jo Byrns High School.

Dig in Dawgs and make it back to back wins on Bulldog Field.

Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.

Get there early for Homecoming festivities X2

Clinton County High School Athletic Director Mike Beard reported last Friday afternoon as heavy rains poured down on Bulldog Field prior to the game against Lynn Camp, that the decision had been made to postpone the planned homecoming festivities that night.

An understandable decision considering that the Homecoming Princess and Queen candidates weren’t looking favorable on wearing those gowns in the heavy rains while stomping around in the mud in high heels.

With that decision behind them, the Homecoming event will make another attempt at being completed this Friday night prior to the game against Lynn Camp.

So – get out to Bulldog Field early for the Homecoming event, which is slated to get underway at 6:30 p.m.

Sid showing improvement

As I noted last week, Sid Scott, after battling double pneumonia early in the summer, going through rehab in recent weeks, and getting well enough to be back out, broadcast a couple of football games early in the season, and even argue with this writer a time or two on a couple of points, has suffered a setback in the past couple of weeks and is again very ill.

His condition is improving since my last report here last week, and according to his daughter, Lynn Starnes, he has been taken off of breathing assist efforts and they are hoping for a return home sometime later this week.

Lynn said the family appreciates all of the thoughts and prayers – which she said are still needed – and she added that they feel more than fortunate to have such a supportive community like Clinton County behind “Big Sid”.
