Memorial Day 2011 came and went last weekend, marking the start of another tourism season for Albany and Clinton County at both Lake Cumberland to the north, and Dale Hollow Lake, to the south.

Both lakes are currently at higher than normal levels, giving boaters plenty of water to play in, but limited shoreline, especially on Dale Hollow.

One sight that was familiar for decades but had been absent for the past five years was seen again this past weekend when boaters were able to congregate below 76 Falls, as shown in the top photo made Saturday.

Construction work that is ongoing in an effort to repair a leaking Wolf Creek Dam, has resulted in a lake level on Lake Cumberland that is some 40 feet lower than normal, leaving the 76 Falls area unaccessible to boaters for the past five years.

Traffic on Dale Hollow was busy this weekend as well. Below left, a view of the full parking lot, launch ramp and courtesy slips at Wisdom Dock Saturday morning.
