The Albany Fire Department was called to the scene of a car fire late Sunday night, October 4, on South Hwy. 127. Albany Fire Chief Robert Roeper said the fire was confined to the engine when firefighters arrived at the smoking vehicle. Roeper is unsure what caused the fire, stating the owner of the vehicle, Teresa Cross, of Byrdstown, TN, told him the vehicle had recently undergone some repairs. No one was injured in the incident.
