Good Neighbors Theatre is excited to announce the opening play of the season is Play On!, directed by Melva Nunnery. Dates are November 7, 13, and 14 at 7:00 PM and matinees November 8 and 15 at 2:00 PM. GNT is located at 8780 Highway 111 Byrdstown, TN.

Play On! is the story of the Dunbar Drama Society and its opening of a local playwright’s original murder mystery. With no royalty fees to pay, the company thinks it got a great deal until the playwright continues to interrupt the rehearsal process with constant rewrites and changes.

Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show with bickering actors, bumbling crew and backstage romances in full swing. Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is opening night where anything that can go wrong does. Act III is truly a hilarious affair as the show finally emerges on opening night.

Most of the actors play dual roles of their characters in the play and the play-within-the-play.

Roles include: Aggie Manville – a stage manager and prompter, portrayed by Kathie Bowles and Jamie Garrett as Louise Peary – a sound-and-lighting-and-scenic technician.

Geraldine “Gerry” Dunbar – a community theatre director is played by Aliea Garner, who is constantly having to contend with Linda Saunders in the role of Phyllis Montague – a novice playwright in the community.

Actors in both Play On! and Murder Most Foul are: Ron Bledsoe as Henry Benish (“Lord Dudley”) and Angela Sloan as Polly Benish (“Lady Margaret”). Marla “Smitty” Smith (“Doris the maid”) is portrayed by Elizabeth Norris, while Tom Murray plays Saul Watson (“Doctor Rex Forbes”) – a Villain. Billy Carewe (“Stephen Sellers”) and Violet Imbry (“Diana Lassiter”) are a young couple played by Tyler Martin and Samantha Harden.

Ticket Prices are $12.00/Adult and $8.00/Child between three and 12 years of age. Lap babies two and under are free. Ticket may be made purchased in advance at the Byrdstown-Pickett County Chamber of Commerce.

All pre-reserved tickets must be paid for at the time the reservation is made. Stop by the Chamber located at 1005 Highway 111. The Chamber’s phone is 931-864-7195.

Tickets may also be purchased at Good Neighbors Theatre ticket booth on the night of the performances. All tickets sales are final. Unused tickets are non-refundable.
