Meet the Bulldogs and two new faces on the wall
The events on the slate this Friday night at Clinton County High School for many local roundball basketball fans are often some of the most looked forward to happenings of the year.
After a long hot summer, thoughts have long been turning toward the winter hardwood schedule and after nearly eight months of no high school basketball action, that is all about to change.
While the start of the 2015-16 season is still nearly three weeks away, we are afforded the opportunity this weekend to get at least a quick fix that should get you (us) hard-core fans through the next short stretch before we finally get things underway with real games on December 1.
Don’t miss Friday night’s Meet the Bulldogs/Big Blue Mania event. A separate article outlining the event is included this week on page 1 of the NEWS, but it also deserves mention here as well.
The fun Friday night will include a lineup of at least four different activities, of course beginning with the Booster Club dinner, beginning at 5:30 p.m., which this year includes a Hunter’s BBQ lineup. Tickets for the dinner are $50 for two plate BBQ dinners and also gets you a chance at the second event on the slate, the drawing for prizes.
Those drawings will be ongoing during the meal setting, and will be designed to work it’s way down to a grand prize winner who will take home $2,000 in cash.
Of course that portion of the night is intended to be a fundraising event for the Booster Club itself, and all of those proceeds will directly be used to benefit the CCHS basketball program.
It should also be stressed here that tickets for the dinner/drawing have to be purchased in advance – no tickets will be sold at the door! See any Lady Bulldog or Bulldog to get yours!.
Of course the main course of the evening will be up next – the first look that fans will be afforded at the youngsters who will be wearing the blue and white Clinton County High School uniforms this season – those who we will be supporting on the hardwood for the next four months or so.
The introductions of coaches, players and cheerleaders is the main course for the evening, and those introductions will be followed in each team’s case with a short intra-squad scrimmage setting.
All things said and done, it’s that brief look at the teams that should bring everyone out to the Lindle Castle Gymnasium Friday night – everything else is fun and important, but the first look at our teams would be the main course of the evening.
Finally, we will close out with “dessert” for the evening, when we present our two latest members of the Clinton County High School Basketball Wall of Fame.
This year we will see a pair of very deserving former players being added to the WOF in former Bulldog Sheldon Harlan (Class of 1993), and former Lady Bulldog Dorothy Papineau (Class of 2005).
The separate article beginning on page 1 this week gives a more detailed lineup of the accomplishments each player achieved that eventually brought them to be recipients of this honor.
Should be a fantastic lineup of events for a great Friday night of basketball fun.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get an early basketball fix!
