Over 270 people were in attendance at the 12th annual Missoula Children’s Theatre residency week performance on Friday, November 6th. The audience joined Aladdin as he ventured into a swirling sandstorm of famous Arabian Tales from Ali Baba to Scheherazade and even Sinbad the Sailor as the MCT team and more than 50 local students performed an original musical adaptation, ALADDIN.
The local cast featured Johnathan Richardson as Aladdin and Jaden Mullins as his Mother. Moriah Moons was the Princess Dory and Eli Rains was her father the Sultan, along with his adviser the Grand Vizier played by Hailey Cole.
Andrea Duvall and Mary Willen Cross were the keeper of the Book of Answers Dinazade and her sister Scheherazade. Devin Huckaby was The Mysterious One and Cambia Moses, Alyssa Rodriguez, and Zoe Massingale were the mischievous Genies. A stubborn Donkey and spunky Goat were played by Landon Smith and Loren Little. Scheming Cassim and Ali Baba were played by Savannah Mercer and Katelyn Perez.
Sinbad was Christian Derryberry and his Sailors were Kendra Bertram, Claire Guffey, Stacy Pascual, Gracie Melton, and Callyn Flowers. The wise-cracking Palm Trees were played by Sadie Moons and Kaylee Latham. Tessa Cross, Mackenzee Parrigin, and Tatum Harlan were fleet footed Camels. The Cave of Wonders were played by Addison Weston, Emily Sawyers, Jonna Upchurch, McKenna Moons, and Ashton Daniels.
Vagabonds were played by Drew Davis, Ella Rose Smith, Chesney Harlan, Eli Melton, Evan Little, Ethan Rains, Tanner Cross, and Sami Criswell. A pack of lost Penguins were played by Noah Claborn, Sydney Lowhorn, Abigale Upchurch, Sarah Smith, Natali Derryberry, Parker Neathery, Kaylah Boston, Sadie Ipock, Olivia Lee, Adalyn Duvall, and Lee Tallent. Jessica Criswell, Vivian Zheng, Frank Zheng, and Carmen Rodriguez served as Assistant Directors for the week.
MCT Tour Actor Jas Spencer played the Genie, and the show was directed by MCT Tour Director Katrina Sebastian. The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency in Clinton County was presented by Clinton County Community Education with support from Extended School Services.
