A good night at the Castle
Players and coaches have scrimmages on their minds right now, but fans are still thinking about the gathering that was held this past Friday night at the Lindle Castle Gymnasium for the Big Blue Mania/Meet the Bulldogs event.
The new styled dinner/reverse drawing created a lot of excitement and Booster Club President Kim Gibson told me after the program had ended that she felt the event was a success.
The tickets weren’t a sell out, but for the first time effort, she said she was very pleased and felt it was something that could easily be built on and improved in the coming years.
It did produce a much larger crowd that hung around longer in the cafeteria from year’s past, and the overall crowd attending the Meet the Bulldogs portion of the program that followed was larger than it has been in years past.
Nice job on introducing something new to keep things fresh.
As for the rest of the night, things went off almost without a hitch – sans a little dance routine that our Lady Dawgs wanted to pull off and experienced some technical difficulties.
Still, the effort was appreciated by the fans and the following scrimmage was enjoyed by those in the stands, as was the same by the Bulldogs that closed that portion of the night out.
Finally, the two new inductees to the CCHS Basketball Wall of Fame were well accepted by the fans and both Dorothy Papineau and Sheldon Harlan are certainly deserving additions to “the club”.
Now we wait – but just for a couple more weeks. With a handful of scrimmages still ahead, roundball fans can breathe a sigh of relief in knowing that as soon as we get this Thanksgiving holiday behind us, we can settle down for four months of roundball action.
Both the Lady Dawgs head to Casey County next Tuesday night, December 1, for a double header against the Rebels with the ladies tipping off at 5:30 p.m.
On Friday night of that same week December 4, the first home action will find another double-header event as the Lady Dawgs and Bulldogs will play host to the Wildcats of Franklin-Simpson. Girls action tips at 6:00 p.m.
Local readers found basketball schedules tucked inside last week’s Clinton County News, but if you need additional schedules, they are available at the NEWS office, or the high school.
The annual Big Blue Preview is still in production and we expect it to be included with next week’s edition.
Be patient – we’ll throw up the Rock shortly!
