Turnovers … by Alan B. Gibson

Fill up the tank and clear the schedule – it stays busy ‘til March

Leisure time for local high school basketball fans came to a screeching halt this week with the start of the 2015-16 hardwood campaign (I’ve almost now used up my self-imposed five-time annual use of the term hardwood – oops, that’s five right there).

Of course we got things off and running on Tuesday night with the double-header action against Casey County – results of which will be included in next week’s Clinton County News.

After Tuesday night’s opening action up in the 12th Region, we quickly jump straight into the 4th Region ring of fire.

Everyone should take note that the first home outing for our Lady Dawgs and Bulldogs will be this Friday night in the Lindle Castle Gymnasium when we take on the Wildcats of Franklin-Simpson High School.

Both squads will need to be on their best games for this opener, and the Bulldogs will be facing one of the better players they will likely be running up against all season long in Tavin Lovin.

Lovin is a 6’3” junior point guard who has been rated in the top 15 in most every pre-season player ranking I’ve seen, as well as being the top rated boy player in the 4th.

The girls’ will tip-off at 6:00 Friday night.

Both teams quickly get back into action the very next day, again against a 4th region opponent when we travel west to Bowling Green to take on Warren East in another double-header lineup against the Raiders.

Those traveling to Bowling Green should take notice that the scheduled tip-off time for the girls action will be 5:00 p.m.

More details about what we might expect next week – after we’ve actually seen a few games on the hardwood (there – an extra one for good measure).
