Charles Eugene “Gene” Shields, 89, of Nashville, Tennessee and formerly of Albany, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 in Nashville.

He was a veteran of World War II, member of Albany Masonic Lodge #206, and a member of Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Jean “Jeannie” Shields.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Anise Clausing, Dayton, Ohio, and Sherri Lynn (John) Linville, Acworth, Georgia; one son, Charles (Debbie) Shields, Rougemont, North Carolina; one brother, Paul (Nelda) Shields, Nashville; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday, December 10 at 1 p.m. from Talbott Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Sexton officiating. Burial was in Memorial Hill Cemetery with military honors. A Masonic Service was held Wednesday, December 9 at the funeral home.

Talbott Funeral Home of Albany was in charge of arrangements.
