The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky announces Paula Little, of Albany, has been appointed to serve on its 15 member Board of Directors. The Board’s role is to uphold the Foundation’s mission of addressing the un-met healthcare needs of Kentuckians and provide financial and programmatic oversight.

Little said she was honored to have been appointed to the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky Board and was excited to be a part of the great work the Foundation is doing in trying to improve the health of all Kentuckians.

Little said she had been aware of the organization for several years and has been personally involved with it since it initiated the Investment for Kentucky’s future initiative, which is the foundation of the Clinton County Healthy Hometown Coalition that she was instrumental in getting formed and currently serves as chairpson of.

The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky was developed through an endowment back in the 1990s and its members have been strong advocates of health issues and state healthy policies ever since. “They have a very broad reach in wide range of health related areas,” Little said.

“The Foundation has been advocating for positive changes in statewide health policies for many years,” said Little, adding that as being a member she would like to help bring an education perspective to the board. “I hope to be a voice for south central Kentucky in advocating health related needs for our region.”

Board members are selected primarily through recommendations of community advisory councils which select from among applications they receive.

Little also noted that, during a meeting of the Foundation last October, she made a presentation on the local Healthy Hometown Coalition and the positive things it has been doing in the community to promote health awareness.

Little will attend an orientation of new board members in February. Board members are eligible to serve up to three consecutive two-year terms.

Little is the Assistant Superintendent and Supervisor of Instruction for the Clinton County School District. Active in various state and community organizations, Little serves on the Board of Directors of Cumberland Family Medical Center, Forward in the Fifth, Lake Cumberland Head Start, Albany/Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, Mountain View Park Secretary, and the Southcentral Kentucky Area Health Education Center. She also serves in an advisory capacity for other organizations, including the Educational Training Service, Monticello Banking Company and the Kentucky History Center.

An alumnus of the Kentucky Leadership Academy and the Kentucky Women’s Leadership Network, Little completed an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Kentucky, a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Western Kentucky University, and a Doctoral Degree in Education from the University of Louisville. She lives in Albany with her husband Rodney and two children, Evan and Loren.
