District race coming to a close

Hard to believe the speed at which this 2015-16 basketball campaign is racing by, but when this week comes to an end, providing Mother Nature cooperates, Clinton County will have completed the regular season 16th District portion of it’s season

On Tuesday night, both squads headed over to Burkesville to take on Cumberland County and on Friday night of this week, we will play host to Russell County for the final matchup against 16th District competition as far as post-season district tournament standings are concerned.

We’re not quite half-way through the season yet, but in any event, Tuesday and Friday night’s matchup will be big for both squads. Translation – the Dawgs and Lady Dawgs need you in the stands for Friday night’s games.

Upcoming Classic game to have trio of ticket options

This heads-up is well in advance, but here goes anyway (if I remember, I’ll try to throw out another reminder in a few weeks). The Bulldogs are slated to travel to Pulaski on Saturday, February 6, for a game against McCreary Central at Pulaski County High School with a 12:00 noon tip-off.

It’s part of a two-day long Don Marshall E RAM Classic that will feature several of the top teams from across the country, not to mention several of the nation’s top-rated high school players who we will be watching on the college court in the future.

Included among that list of elite players is UK commit Sacha Killeya-Jones of Virginia Episcopal School, a 6’ 11” recruit who this summer decommitted from Virginia to say he had changed his mind and would be a Wildcat next season

Jones is among at least seven different players who are being brought to Somerset to compete in the two-day long event that the Bulldogs have been invited to compete in.

So, if you want to take advantage of the chance to see some the nation’s top recruits right here in this region, you have three ticket choices. A two-day pass to all 12 (nine on Saturday and three on Sunday) of the games Saturday and Sunday (February 6-7) is $30, or a single day pass to all of the games on either day.

Or, if you just want to watch Clinton County then head back home to catch the Lady Dawgs home game later that afternoon, then there will be single game tickets available for local fans at the high school prior to the February 6 contest. Stay tuned for more particular details on those single game tickets and availability.

By the way, the Lady Dawgs are playing Pulaski County here on Saturday, February 6, with a 4:00 p.m. JV tip-of

I’ll see you in the gym,
