Eli Brown went up for a shot during the first half of Clinton County’s game against Campbellsville on Tuesday. The Dawgs came from behind to win in overtime, 91-84.

The Clinton County Bulldogs moved to 14-8 on the year after two hard fought victories which included an overtime win Tuesday night against Campbellsville, 91-84.

The second win last week was on the road as Clinton County traveled to Allen County-Scottsville. The Dawgs held on during the final minutes as ACS made a run late in the fourth quarter, 60-56.

The Bulldogs traveled to Allen County-Scottsville Friday night for the second game of a girls’/boys’ double header.

The Dawgs opened up the game on fire and moved to 12-0 before allowing ACS to score.

ACS started cutting into the lead and put together a 12-2 run to trail by two.

Colin Langford hit two of two from the foul line to put the Dawgs up by four, but a three pointer by ACS ended the first quarter and saw the Dawgs up by only one, 16-15.

The second quarter was a battle for both teams as several lead changes took place during the eight minute period.

ACS took its first lead at 23-22, but a basket by Langford put the Dawgs back up by one, 24-23.

For the next several minutes the score went back and forth with both teams grabbing a one point lead until after it was tied at 28 with 2:52 on the clock.

At that point, Clinton County put together a 6-0 run for a 34-28 lead. ACS hit a free throw and a basket in the final minutes to cut the lead to three at the half, 34-31.

During the third quarter, Clinton County came out on a mission and their play resembled how they started the game.

The Dawgs went on a scoring spree, as well as a defensive hold, only allowing ACS two points during the period while putting up 13 for a 47-33 lead.

During the final quarter, ACS started chipping away at the Dawgs’ lead again.

With 2:47 second remaining in the game, Clinton County was up by eight point, 55-47, when ACS put together a 9-1 run to cut the lead to two points, 56-54.

Jamison Summers hit one of two from the line at the 1:19 mark, followed by a basket by Eli Brown for a five point lead, 59-54.

ACS tried to get a basket on the next possession but without any success after two attempts. Brown grabbed a rebound to secure possession for the Bulldogs.

The Patriots hit two free throws in the final seconds, but wasn’t able to cut the lead the Bulldogs had secured in the third quarter as Clinton County picked up the win, 60-56.

The Dawgs hosted Campbellsville Tuesday night at Lindle Castle Gymnasium with Clinton County coming out on top in overtime, 91-84.

During the first quarter, Clinton County came out a little sluggish, but was able to keep the game close until the 2:50 mark when the Tigers put together a 7-1 run to end the first quarter with a six point lead, 20-13.

Campbellsville continued to maintain a lead during the second quarter and proved they were in control of the game. The Tigers’ largest lead of the quarter came at the 5:04 mark, 31-18, but toward the end of the quarter, Clinton County managed to cut the lead to five at one point and finished with a 43-35 halftime deficit.

After halftime, Campbellsville continued to score and hold the Dawgs on the defensive end. Clinton County found itself down by 11 after a three pointer by Campbellsville, but a last second shot by Langford cut the lead to nine points at the end of the third, 61-52.

During the final quarter Clinton County started to pick up its play and that’s where fans saw the momentum shift toward the Dawgs.

At the 5:30 mark, Clinton County trailed by 13 points, 71-58, and just when all hope was lost for fans, the Dawgs started chipping away at the lead.

Clinton County cut the lead to four point on an 11-4 run, 75-71 with 1:49 on the clock.

Campbellsville hit two from the foul line to put the Tigers up by six with less than a minute remaining in the game, but a three pointer by Brett Gibson, cut the lead to three, 77-74.

The Tigers hit one of two from the line, but with 29 seconds on the clock, Summers drove the lane and was fouled, making the basket, and sending him to the line to complete the three point play and to trail by one, 78-77.

With 21 seconds on the clock, Clinton County fouled to stop the clock. Campbellsville hit one of two from the line for a two point lead, 79-77. After a missed attempt to tie the game, Clinton County’s Gibson stole the ball on an inbound pass and hit a layup with three seconds remaining to tie the game at 79.

The Dawgs again stole the inbounds pass, but failed to score on the last second shot to win the game, sending it into overtime.

In OT, Chad Smith dropped in a basket and was fouled, sending him to the line for the three point play to give Clinton County its first lead of the game since the first quarter, 82-79.

The Dawgs continued to roll from the foul line as Gibson and Langford both dropped in a pair, 86-79.

Campbellsville hit a three pointer with 1:15 remaining in overtime, but Langford was fouled on the next possession and hit two free throws for an 88-82 lead.

The Tigers scored the next trip down the floor to cut the lead to four, but two foul shots from Summers and one from Kyle Choate sealed the deal for Clinton County as the Dawgs picked up the win, 91-84.

Clinton County was back in action Tuesday as the Dawgs hosted Caverna. Clinton County will also be at home on Friday to play host to Harlan County with a 7:15 tip off time.

Colin Langford went up from the middle of the lane Tuesday night against Campbellsville. Langford finished the game with 19 points in the winning effort.
