Capitos Celebrate 70th Anniversary

Originally natives of Northern Kentucky, George and Mary Capito moved here 15 years ago from Okeechobee, Florida after two hurricanes struck their home in succession.

They were wed after the war, February 9, 1946. He was serving in the Navy, having been sworn in two years earlier, on the same date in 1944.

In civilian life, George worked in Cincinnati as an artist and later as an instructor teacher. Mary worked in assembly and in sales and later in school work. The devoted couple adopted two children, Michael and Randall (both deceased). They had six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. All are now living in Northern Kentucky.

George and Mary are presently enjoying retirement in their little log house near Lake Cumberland and aiming for their 75th anniversary. “We’re getting there. We are now members of Cave Springs Baptist Church where Jason Brogan is the pastor. It’s a wonderful church.”
