Clinton Soil Conservation Meeting

The Clinton County Soil Conservation District will hold its monthly meeting Friday, February 19, at 8:30 a.m. in the conference room of the FSA/NRCS office. The meeting is open to the public.

LCADD Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting

The Lake Cumberland Area Development District (LCADD) is in the process of updating the 2016 Lake Cumberland Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan.

A Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting will be held on February 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. central time at LCADD, located at 2384 Lakeway Drive in Russell Springs.

Meeting participants will identify the following: critical infrastructure within hazard areas, existing hazard mitigation measures in place, and proposed hazard protection measures.

The geographic scope of the Lake Cumberland Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan includes 14 incorporated cities and all unincorporated land within Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Pulaski, McCreary, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne counties.

The Plan, which is updated every five years, forms the foundation for long-term strategies to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction and repeated damage.

Board of Health annual meeting

The annual meeting of the Clinton County local board of health will be Monday, February 29 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be in the conference room of the health department. The meeting is open to the public.

Park board scheduled to meet

The Recreation Park Board is scheduled to meet in regular session Thursday, February 25 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the general public.

Football team taking strawberry orders

The Clinton County varsity football team is now taking orders for fresh strawberries. The strawberries will be delivered in March. Prices are $25 for a full flat, which is eight quarts and $15 for a half flat, which is four quarts. Clinton Fiscal Court meeting

Clinton Fiscal Court will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, February 18 at 5 p.m. in the upstairs courtroom of the courthouse. The meeting is open to the public.

Broadleaf weed control demonstration

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture is offering a broadleaf weed control demonstration to area producers.

Producers interested in controlling broadleaf weeds in pastures are encouraged to sign-up by calling the Clinton County Extension Office at 606-387-5404. There are only seven spots available on a first come, first served basis. Producers are responsible for providing a tractor, an operator, and water to fill the sprayer. KDA will provide the sprayer and 2,4-D or Crossbow for 10 acres.
